Jeremy R. Holmes

B.A. (Liberal Arts), Thomas Aquinas College; S.T.M. (Theology), International Theological Institute; Ph.D. (Biblical Studies), Marquette University

Dr. Holmes received his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, California, his masters degree in sacred theology from the International Theological Institute in Gaming, Austria, and his doctoral degree in theology with a specialization in New Testament from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  He wrote his dissertation on the use of the Old Testament in the Gospel of Matthew.  Subsequently, Dr. Holmes taught graduate and undergraduate Scripture and Thomistic theology at Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, Florida.  Besides his work in modern biblical exegesis, including a presentation on the Gospel of John at the Catholic Biblical Association, Dr. Holmes has published scholarly articles on the biblical commentaries of St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Bonaventure, and has published translations of the works of Thomas Aquinas and Guigo the Carthusian.  Dr. Holmes is Assistant Professor of Theology at Wyoming Catholic College in Lander.
 

Peter A. Kwasniewski

After attending Thomas Aquinas College and The Catholic University of America, Dr. Kwasniewski taught courses in natural philosophy, philosophical psychology, metaphysics, moral theology, Catholic social doctrine, fundamental theology, Christology, ecclesiology, sacramental theology, eschatology, and biblical theology at the International Theological Institute in Gaming, Austria, from 1998 to 2006.  During this period he also lectured on medieval philosophy for the Austrian Program of Ave Maria University, on human rights for the Phoenix Institute Europe Foundation, and on music history for the Austrian Program of the Franciscan University of Steubenville.  His articles on philosophy, theology, and music have appeared in journals such as The Thomist, Communio, Nova & Vetera, Mediaeval Studies, Modern Schoolman, Doctor Angelicus, The Downside Review, Angelicum, Faith & Reason, Logos, and The Aquinas Review.  He has published two books with The Catholic University of America Press, one as editor, the other as translator: Wisdom’s Apprentice: Essays in Honor of Fr. Lawrence Dewan, O.P. and On Love and Charity: Readings from the Sentences Commentary of St. Thomas Aquinas.  Dr. Kwasniewski is Professor of Theology and Philosophy, Instructor in Music History and Theory, and Choirmaster at Wyoming Catholic College in Lander.
 

John R. Mortensen

Having received his bachelor’s degree in 1997 from Thomas Aquinas College, John Mortensen spent the next ten years in Europe where he studied theology and philosophy in Austria, Oxford, and Rome.  From 2002 to 2007 he was Assistant Professor at the International Theological Institute in Gaming, Austria, teaching courses in logic, natural philosophy, metaphysics, fundamental theology, and Trinitarian theology.  During these years he also held the positions of Director of Finance and subsequently Vice President of Administration.  He completed a doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome and is currently working on his doctoral dissertation in theology.  Dr. Mortensen’s research has centered on Aquinas’s doctrine of analogy, especially as it pertains to St. Thomas’s account of the mystery of the Trinity and of the divine causality of human freedom.  He specializes in the work of Aristotle and Aquinas, but his interests also include spiritual theology (above all in the Carmelite tradition), music theory, Catholic literature, and computer programming.  Dr. Mortensen is Associate Professor of Theology and Philosophy at Wyoming Catholic College in Lander.

Joseph Bolin

Joseph Bolin received his bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Thomas Aquinas College, a Masters and Licentiate in sacred theology from the International Theological Institute in Austria, and is currently writing a doctoral dissertation in theology for the University of Vienna. He has taught Latin courses for the Austrian Program of the Franciscan University of Steubenville, philosophy and theology for the International Theological Institute, and lectured on ethics for the Seminary of the Servants of Jesus and Mary. He has translated the questions of Aquinas's Commentary on the Sentences of Peter Lombard concerning the moral virtues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Mr. Bolin is a seminarian of the Archdiocese of Vienna, and Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology for the International Theological Institute.


Marco Emerson

After graduating from Thomas Aquinas College, Mr. Emerson received his Bachelor of Sacred Theology from the Angelicum in Rome and is presently completing his licentiate in Theology with a specialization in Thomistic Studies at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.  His licentiate thesis is a consideration of the divine economy of salvation in the works of Thomas Aquinas.  Mr. Emerson was part of a group that published a translation of St. Thomas’s Commentary on the Book of Hebrews and taught in The Aquinas Institute’s inaugural 2008 Summer Program.  Mr. Emerson is currently a Latin professor at Montgomery College in Maryland.
 

Rev. Sebastian Walshe, O.Praem.

Originally from Pasadena, Fr. Sebastian Walshe is a Norbertine Canon of the Abbey of St. Michael in the Diocese of Orange, California, where he is a professor of philosophy for the seminary program.  After completing his studies at Thomas Aquinas College in California, he continued studies at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., receiving a license in Philosophy.  Later, he attended the Pontifical University of St. Thomas at Rome (the Angelicum) where he received a Masters in Sacred Theology and a Doctorate in Philosophy.  His thesis was entitled: "The Primacy of the Common Good as the Root of Personal Dignity in the Doctrine of St. Thomas Aquinas."  From 2003-2005, Fr. Sebastian was also a visiting professor in the Philosophy Department at the Angelicum.
